On 24 July 2026, Laos-Japan Human Resource Development Institute (LJI), with support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), held LJI SUSU Batch 3 Startup Pitch Event 2026 under the theme ‘‘Turning Innovation Into Social Impact’’. The event was organized in collaboration with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Vientiane and the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency (DOSMEP) under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MOIC). The event was implemented with more than 180 business representatives from Laos, Japan, Thailand and Cambodia including more than 30 potential investors.

The event was opened with remarks by H.E. Mr. Tsutomu KOIZUMI, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Lao PDR, Ms. Miyako KOBAYASHI, Chief Representative, JICA Laos office and Mr. Vilakone PHILOMLACK, Deputy Director General of Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Promotion Agency (DOSMEP), Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

Five companies, selected from 14 participating companies, received the JICA award in the LJI SUSU Business Plan Competition in September 2025 and carried out a proof of concept (POC) over eight months, supported financially by JICA and guided by international mentors. At the pitch event, these five companies showcased how their business had grown during the POC period and outlined their future plans, highlighting areas where they seek collaboration with potential partners. In addition, ADB Frontier Mekong highlighted key factors that investors consider when evaluating startups, while three successful LJI SUSU alumni shared insights from their own journeys to encourage the audience, including fellow entrepreneurs and younger generations.
