Today, May 5th, is a Japanese national holiday known as “Children’s Day” (Tango no Sekku).
This day has long been celebrated in Japan to wish for the healthy growth and happiness of children.
To mark the season, LJI has set up a special display of traditional decorations:
Koinobori (Carp Streamers): Just like a strong carp swimming upstream, these streamers symbolize the wish for children to grow up resilient and overcome any hardships they may face.
Kabuto (Samurai Helmet) / Gogatsu Ningyo (traditional Boys’ Festival dolls): The helmet, once worn by samurai for protection, represents the wish for children to be kept safe from illness and accidents.
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience traditional Japanese culture firsthand. We invite you to stop by and take a look when you visit LJI.
We look forward to welcoming you!
